Pet Peeves

I have to get this off my chest—hahaha–no pun intended–I just typed that up and realized there’s not a lot left on my chest –my crass sense of humor creeps in when I’m not even thinking about it and it cracks me up sometimes.

OK, so anyway, as I was saying, I have to tell you this…I have a great big peeve that has to do with ordering.

I hate reading something that isn’t in some sort of chronological order. (this is key–you’ll find out why at the end of this post).

I hate watching movies that flip back and forth between the present, past, and the future. I don’t hate it all the time, just most of the time.

I hate scrapbooking if I can’t do it chronologically otherwise I’m going to forget which batch of pics goes with what layout. The problem is that I literally take thousands and thousands of pictures and don’t have enough time to scrap them all. But–they have to be filed chronologically because I’m bad about writing on the back some memory or date that will tell me how old the kids are in the pics–sort of. I literally break down and cry when I realize the date/calendar part of my camera has been reset or is not working properly. Sigh.

So, this is my point. I have a whole lot of posts in que. I have a lot of pictures. Because of long periods of freak out, I have been sporadic in publishing my posts, but not in writing them. So, now I have a lot of catch up and based on my sitemeter and how often some of my subscribers are reading, I have been trying to get into the habit of publishing once a week. I figured that would give everyone enough time because I know the posts tend to run long and there’s usually a lot to process. I have realized though that as new stuff is happening, I am still behind on what has already happened. At the current pace, I will never catch up, so, strap on your reading hats–I’m gonna be posting a few times a week! (that’s the plan anyway)

If you ever feel like you’ve missed something–check the Recent Posts in the sidebar. Also, I encourage all you newcomers to the blog to go back through the archives. I’m going to add another widget that will show everyone at a glance which posts were the most popular and I have added stars at the end of them now for rating. If you would do me a favor and rate the posts, it will help the server track those that are read the most so that widget can keep updated. Even if you’ve read them–go back and at least rate them–please? I believe all you need to do is roll your mouse over the stars and click on which one you feel it should be rated at. I’ve thought about running re-runs, but that would put me back even further and I’m not kidding you–my draft box is overflowing–I need to get these up and out so I can clear my box and my mind. So–remember to check the widget in the sidebar that will let you know which posts drew a lot of attention.

Other peeves about the blog–

I haven’t figured out how to post more than one picture in a post.

I can’t seem to do wrap around text around a picture.

I haven’t figured out how to add the soundcloud so the blog will play music in the background.

I can’t add certain widgets into the sidebar I want.

I can’t add Google Friend Connect for easy reader following.

I can’t change the size of font and I can barely see anymore (I need glasses) so if this bothers you and you want to read it but can’t–I’m working on it. I may have to write them in MS Word and transfer it over. I do need feedback on this one–so let me know how it is for all of you or if I should change the layout.

I’m also debating a switch to Blogger–the site is under construction. www.Bspecific.blogspot.com
The url is a little different because mine was already taken–can you believe it! And I thought I was being all original… I will be playing with that one for quite a while, but—all my peeves are taken care of there–but the address to get there is just a little different. The blog itself still is titled the same.

I don’t have enough time in the evenings to play with it or write as much as I want.

I can only download so many megabytes on my photo Flickr account per month. I’m always thinking about it and then I forget to do it altogether. Ugh.

I hate that the blog posts one on top of the other and if someone wanted to start at the beginning, they’d have to scroll all the way down and back for several pages. ( I actually tried this today and was blown away at the shear volume I’ve already written and trust me–there’s twice that much more in que).

I have learned how to hyperlink this week, but I can’t figure out how to link to previous posts if I am referencing them. This would come in especially handy for those of you just coming in and then you could just click on the link for the corresponding post.

If there’s anyone out there that could help me figure these things out–if you’ve been with WordPress awhile and know some of those finer points–let me know.

So, remember that original pet peeve of mine? Well, I wanted you to know that the posts coming out are going to be completely out of order–chronologically. I do have a calendar up on the sidebar just for you in case there is anyone else out there like me and needs the visual. I’ll add dates, but–aaarrrggghhh–they are going to be out of order.

I know–tell me about it, right-it’ll be ok, though–I promise. If I have to learn to let go–then you’ll have to also.
